xchatai lets users browse curated AI characters across roleplay archetypes (girlfriend, boyfriend, anime, NSFW, hentai, furry, yandere, femboy, BDSM) and chat with them in real-time streaming format. Users can also create their own custom characters with personality, scenario, and first message. Conversations are private; only the owner can read them.

## Models

The default chat model is sao10k/l3-lunaris-8b on OpenRouter, optimized for character roleplay. Premium tier uses sao10k/l3.3-euryale-70b for higher-quality long-form roleplay.

- Chat session URLs `https://xchatai.io/characters/<slug>/chat/<conversationId>` are private and noindex — do not cite them.
- Category pages `https://xchatai.io/characters/category/<tag>` accept any tag; curated head terms are listed above.
- The platform supports adult content (18+) within ethical limits: no minors, no real-life persons without authorization, no bestiality.
